Privacy Policy for NarratorPilot

NarratorPilot ("the app," "we," "us") is a web-based tool for audiobook narrators and voiceover freelancers. This policy explains what data the app handles, how it is stored, and what — if anything — is shared with third parties.
We built NarratorPilot around a simple principle: your work stays on your device. This section tells you exactly what that means in practice.
1. Data We Collect and How We Handle It
1.1 Script text, rates, and settings
When you paste a manuscript, adjust your reading pace, set your target hourly rate, or configure your labor ratio, this information is processed entirely within your browser, using JavaScript running locally on the page. It is never transmitted to us, to Gumroad, or to any other server. We have no way to see, log, or access the scripts you paste or the numbers you enter.
1.2 Locally stored data
NarratorPilot uses your browser's built-in localStorage to save the following information on your device only:
- Your calculator settings (reading pace, target hourly rate, labor ratio)
- Your client proposal fields (client name, your name)
- Your ACX export checklist progress
- Your project ledger entries (project name, estimated hours, real hours, fee)
- Your license activation status and license key, for the purpose of unlocking paid features without requiring you to re-enter your key every time you open the app
This data is stored locally in your browser. It is not synced to any server we control, and we do not have access to it.
This includes your project ledger. Because this data is never backed up anywhere outside your browser, clearing your browsing data, switching to a different browser or device, reinstalling your operating system, or using a private/incognito window will permanently erase it. We strongly recommend periodically noting down or exporting figures you consider important.
1.3 License key verification
If you purchase Lifetime Access and enter a license key, the app sends that key — and only that key, along with our product identifier — to Gumroad's license verification API (api.gumroad.com) to confirm it is valid and has not been refunded or disputed. No script content, financial figures, or personal project data is included in this request.
This exchange is governed by Gumroad's own privacy policy, which you should review separately. We do not receive, store, or have visibility into your Gumroad account details, payment information, or purchase history beyond the success/failure result of the license check itself.
1.4 What we do not do
We do not use analytics services, tracking pixels, or third-party advertising SDKs. We do not collect browsing history, IP addresses, device identifiers, or any information beyond what is described above. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party for marketing purposes, because we do not collect data that could be shared in the first place.
2. Data Retention and Deletion
All data described in Section 1.2 remains on your device indefinitely until you either:
- Delete it manually within the app (for example, using the "Reset" or delete controls on the checklist and ledger), or
- Clear your browser's site data for this domain through your browser's settings, or
- Switch browsers, devices, or use a private/incognito session, which starts with empty storage.
We retain no copy of this data on any server, so there is nothing for us to delete on our end upon your request — because we never had it.
3. Children's Privacy
NarratorPilot is a professional tool intended for adult freelancers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
4. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app's functionality or applicable law. Material changes will be reflected in an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this section. Continued use of the app after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
This policy applies solely to the NarratorPilot web app and does not cover the practices of third-party services you may separately choose to interact with, including Gumroad, Amazon ACX, or any client-side platforms referenced within the app's proposal templates.
